Day Trips

There are many beautiful places to visit in Sydney that are easy to reach by train, bus or ferry.

To use  local public transport you will need an OPAL card which can be purchased at any newsagent.

  1. Catch a train+bus to Bondi Beach, the most famous beach in Australia. Alternatively, you can catch a train to Bondi Junction and then walk down the hill to the beach.

  2. Catch a train+bus to Bondi Beach and then walk from the South end of the beach around the coastline to Bronte Beach and catch a bus back to the city.

  3. Catch a bus to Coogee and do the Coogee to Bondi Cliff Walk. It is one of the most beautiful walks in Sydney .

  4. Catch a bus to Centennial Park and walk around. It is beautiful. You can feed the ducks, go running, or ride a horse there.

  5. Catch a ferry to Cremorne Point and walk around maybe all the way to Taronga Zoo. It's beautiful and has many animals.

  6. Catch a train or ferry to Parramatta and walk around Parramatta Park. It is very historical. There's quite a lot of good Chinese and Vietnamese food near Parramatta Station on Church St near Westfield - lots of shops too.

  7. Catch a ferry to Manly and walk to Spit Bridge via the Manly to Spit Bridge walk. It's lovely.

  8. Or Catch a ferry to Manly, and walk around to Shelly Beach, which is a great place for a picnic, then up through North Head. It has amazing views.

  9. Catch a ferry to Watson's Bay and walk to South Head. It is a very beautiful place, and there is a nudist beach too.

  10. Catch a bus to La Perouse and enjoy the atmosphere. The sea is safe to swim here because there are no waves. There's lots of different people there, and a nudist beach too.

  11. For a longer trip, catch a train to the Blue Mountains in the west. Get off at Wentworth Falls and do the Charles Darwin Walk and the National Pass. It is VERY beautiful. Amazing.

  12. For another long trip, catch a train to Stanwell Park in the south. There is a nice beach there. Get back on the train and continue on to Unanderra Station, where you can walk to the Nan Tien Temple.

  13. Another place in the south that is very beautiful is Kiama. It has great beaches and a fun place called Jamberoo.
